I have been through a lot by my own choices. I was arrested and went to jail. While awaiting bail, I saw written in the lightest pencil “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalms 46:10). Since then, for ten years, I let that arrest define me. People in our small city snarled at me, my ex continues to use it against me, but I chose to release it. I worked my butt off to get my nursing license and now I save lives instead of ruin them. It took me forever, it feels, but I released my past. This bracelet is a daily reminder as I parent, work as a stroke nurse, and as a child of God that my past made me, but it doesn’t define me.
