You Will Get Through This - VIII

I’m a teacher and I had a particularly trying year with my students. The school didn’t support me and I ended up with PTSD. There were a lot of tears shed, many sleepless nights and then the decision not to return in the new year. I was terrified I’d never teach again. It was then I bought my bracelet. I was having counselling and on medication but it was this and that was the game changer. Everyone told me it would be OK but I didn’t believe them. I had lost all faith in myself. Somehow looking down at that band on my wrist helped. I did get through it and I bought myself a new band. Flowers grow after the storm. But, my story doesn’t end here. My sister separated from her husband and our father died. She wasn’t coping. She was anxious and so upset. I live far away so I could be a shoulder to cry on but not much more. The day of the funeral we were all sad. I took my You will get through this band and I slipped it on her wrist. I told her the story. It’s only a few weeks later but she is moving on. She has made positive steps in dealing with the marriage breakdown and just yesterday she sent me a picture of her wrist with the band. She looks at it and feels its message and my love.
